This requires access to your website's code or a website builder like Wix, WordPress, or Squarespace. If you're not comfortable with this, ask your web developer or choose the Hands-Off plan.

What You'll Need Before Starting

A Google Account
Any Gmail account works. This will be used to access Google Analytics.
A Website You Own
You need to be able to add code to your website, or use a website builder that supports Google Analytics.
Admin Access to Your Website
You need to be able to edit your site's settings or HTML.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Create a Google Analytics Account

If you already have Google Analytics set up on your website, skip to Step 4.

Go to analytics.google.com
Sign in with your Google account
Click "Start measuring"
Enter an account name (e.g., "My Business Analytics")
Click "Next"

Step 2: Create a Property

Enter a property name (e.g., "My Business Website")
Select your timezone and currency (South Africa: GMT+2, ZAR)
Click "Next"
Answer the business questions (select your industry and business size)
Click "Create"
Accept the terms of service

Step 3: Set Up Data Collection

Select "Web" as your platform
Enter your website URL (e.g., https://mybusiness.co.za)
Enter a stream name (e.g., "Main Website")
Click "Create stream"
You'll see a Measurement ID (starts with G-). Copy this.

Step 4: Add Google Analytics to Your Website

This step depends on how your website is built:

If you use WordPress:

Install the "Site Kit by Google" plugin
Follow the setup wizard to connect your Google account
The plugin will automatically add the tracking code

If you use Wix:

Go to your Wix dashboard
Click Marketing & SEO → Marketing Integrations
Click "Connect" next to Google Analytics
Paste your Measurement ID

If you have a custom website:

In Google Analytics, click the gear icon (Admin)
Under Property, click "Data Streams"
Click your web stream
Click "View tag instructions"
Copy the code snippet
Paste it into the <head> section of every page on your website

Step 5: Verify It's Working

Wait 24-48 hours for data to start appearing
Visit your website from a different device or incognito window
Go to Google Analytics → Reports → Realtime
You should see at least 1 active user

Step 6: Link to Applisum

Log in to your Applisum dashboard
Go to your Business → Channels
Click "Link Channel" → Website
Sign in with the same Google account you used for Analytics
Select your Analytics property
Click "Authorize"

What Applisum Can Access

Once linked, Applisum can read:

Number of visitors to your website
Which pages they visit
Where your traffic comes from (Google, Facebook, etc.)
How long visitors stay on your site
Conversion data (if you've set up goals)

Applisum cannot modify your website or your Analytics settings.

Don't Have a Website?

You don't need a website to use Applisum. Many successful businesses run campaigns only through Facebook and Instagram. You can always add a website later.
